چکیده

In this ‘work in progress’ paper, we describe research into e-learning and virtual reality at Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) and Essex University respectively. We use our experience to propose a novel virtualised learning model and architecture to support online learners and teachers to visualize important learning related information that has hitherto been invisible to users of online learning systems. The purpose of this work is to enhance the learners’ experience (eg by introducing dynamic learning communities), and to help teachers by providing more efficient feedback tools to improve their teaching (eg by creating the notion of a ‘virtual learner’ to represent a group of similar ability learners). In undertaking this research we address challenges, such as learner community composition, virtual classroom construction, avatar modelling, collaborative Q&A machine interaction, etc and propose some novel solutions that will form our future research and experimental agenda.

Invisible Phenomena in the Overall Personality of Man, in the Interpretive Study of the Verses 38 and 39 of Haqqah

There is a visible and invisible element in all creatures. There are also realities in human beings, some of which are visible and most of which are invisible. The preference of the invisible is not limitted only to quantities but includes qualitaties also. This division is inspired by the verses 38 and 39 of Haqqah: Most commentators of the Holy Qur'an believe that the external instances of th...

Group study of an "undercover" test for visuospatial neglect: invisible cancellation can reveal more neglect than standard cancellation.

Visual neglect is a relatively common deficit after brain damage, particularly strokes. Cancellation tests provide standard clinical measures of neglect severity and deficits in daily life. A recent single-case study introduced a new variation on standard cancellation. Instead of making a visible mark on each target found, the patient made invisible marks (recorded with carbon paper underneath,...

A comparative study of the sense of presence and anxiety in an invisible marker versus a marker augmented reality system for the treatment of phobia towards small animals

Phobia towards small animals has been treated using exposure in vivo and virtual reality. Recently, augmented reality (AR) has also been presented as a suitable tool. The first AR system developed for this purpose used visible markers for tracking. In this first system, the presence of visible markers warns the user of the appearance of animals. To avoid this warning, this paper presents a seco...
